OM4 multimode vs OS2 singlemode
Choose OM4 multimode for short high-density halls or OS2 singlemode for campus and long-haul links.
OM3, OM4, and OM5
Multimode is the workhorse inside buildings and data halls. OM4 is the common Axlogix spec for LC duplex patch panels, pigtails, and patch cords up to typical hall and riser distances.
When OS2 is the right call
Campus rings, hall-to-hall runs, WAN edges, and any link that outgrows multimode distance limits belong on OS2 singlemode. Axlogix OS2 panels accept LC and LC/APC options used on metro and long-haul plant.
Data halls and campuses
Colocation rooms often mix OM4 LC at the spine with OS2 between buildings. Share distances and connector types — we map fiber optic panels, leads, and cables to that mix without a second vendor.
